Mahree went to the podiatrist today to have her toenail checked---it keeps festering. Turns out that she has cut the side of it down so low and so often that the tissue on her toe has grown over the spot where the nail should be. The doc had to remove a section of her nail--and nail bed--so this could be permanently corrected. She had to have 4 shots to numb her toe---she did so well, but it wasn't easy for her.
Her toe had to be prepped, and then the doc came in and put a green band around the base of her toe to cut off the circulation so there would be little bleeding. She didn't feel anything. I was able to watch the whole thing, although I wasn't sure I could....
This is the procedure they did on Mahree's toe today. I was amazed at the large piece that he excised.
We have to leave the bandage on until Wednesday afternoon and they we have to soak her foot twice a day for the next 2-3 weeks in epsom salts and put prescription antibiotic ear drops (yes ear drops) in the hole and re bandage her toe.Stephanie, Mahree's friend, was already planning to come over for a playdate, so we picked her up. I took the two girls plus Merica and Sam to see a movie, "The Secret World of Arrietty" at Woodland Mall---it's the movie based on the book The Borrowers. I found it interesting! Afterwards the girls wanted to go to Aeropostle and Claire's, and we also stopped at Barnes & Noble's.
While the girls window shopped, I bought cookies and juice for Merica and Sam and while Merica read her new Horses book, Sam did a dance for us!
When we got home, Mahree and Stephanie made chocolate chip cookies and dipped strawberries in chocolate. When Steph's Mom came to pick her up, they had to join their necklaces for a picture!!
